About

Sophia NLU is developed by Aquila Labs, founded in spring 2024 with a core mission of protecting personal privacy and digital autonomy.

That mission gave rise to Project Cicero with its core component being a next generation natural language understanding engine that's highly accurate, deterministic, ruthlessly efficient and private with no external dependencies or internet required.

Two years of focused R&D later, the Sophia Home Assistant edition is live, with the full edition on track for a summer release. Sophia represents a fundamentally new approach to natural language processing — one that improves conversational AI agents and knowledge compression alike, packaged in a binary small enough to run on a smart watch, entirely offline.

As outlined in the Aquila Labs mission statement, that commitment never wavers: digital autonomy, delivered at the highest caliber, in an efficient and offline form.
