Sophia v2.2 Released - Improved understanding, speech responses, and more.
Posted Fri Sep 25th 14:31

Sophia v2.2 is now released, and can be installed via the Settings -> Apps and Settings -> Devices and Services menus of your Home Assistant device. Please note, this update requires you to update both the app and integration.

This upgrade contains the following changes:

  • Improved core understanding with new "ambiguous_family_home_three_storey" test set created in the test suite available at https://git.cicero.sh/aquila/ha-voice-test-suite/
  • Improved speech responses, there should no longer be any "Uh oh, unable to find" responses, and responses should be more human like.
  • Added new 'concise' personality for those who prefer short and concise speech responses.
  • Fixed design elements within the localhost web interface including icons not showing.
  • Added new Settings -> About menu to web interface, and changed Settings menu into a drop down.
  • Added new setting allowing user to define how often the filesystem is checked for changes to the config and is hot reloaded (defaults to 5 seconds).
  • Updated log message displayed via terminal when config is reloaded to a more proper log format.
  • Added LLM Trigger setting allowing you to define a nickname or clause that will force the message to the configured LLM.
  • Asking for tomorrow's weather forecast now works.

Quick Tip for Improved Accuracy

From the logs I've seen, many of you are sending in quick three word robotic commands into Sophia. Although it does its best to understand these, please note, Sophia is a natural language understanding engine, meaning it's designed to understand conversational English.

Talk to it like you'd talk to a friend. Instead of saying, "front door light on", say something like, "turn the front door light on for me please". Do that, and you should see an immediate improvement in its accuracy.

Customer Support

Aquila Labs will always strive to provide the highest quality support possible, so please don't hesitate to reach out with any issues. You may either fill out the contact form on the website or if it's more of a general issue post on the community forums at: https://nlu.to/forums/

Thank you for being part of Sophia. Improvements will be continuously made to its understanding over the coming months, and there's some excellent new functionality planned for the future.

Warm Regards,
