Use the Sophia binary to manage the background daemon or test your NLU logic directly from the terminal.
Service Management
These commands manage the lifecycle of the Sophia daemon. These operations run in the background, allowing you to continue using your terminal immediately.
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
./sophia start |
Forks the process into a new session and starts the daemon in the background. |
./sophia stop |
Gracefully shuts down the background daemon. |
./sophia restart |
Stops the running daemon and immediately starts a new instance. |
Interpretation & Testing
Use this command to verify how Sophia is interpreting specific phrases without needing to trigger a voice assistant.
send
Interprets a text string and returns the mapped Home Assistant intents.
- Syntax:
./sophia send "your sentence here" - Example:
./sophia send "Turn on the kitchen lights and set the temperature to 21 degrees" - Output: Returns a JSON-formatted object containing the detected Intents, Entities (e.g.
room: kitchen), and Confidence Scores.
Developer Tip
If you are debugging your configuration and want to see live log output in your terminal instead of backgrounding the process, run:
./sophia -d
This runs the daemon in the foreground, which is the preferred method when running inside Docker or a systemd service.
