For the best possible experience follow the below steps:
Settings: To begin, visit the Settings menu of the web interface at http://YOUR_HA_IP:10520/ first, which allows you to define the mode, personality, and optional LLM credentials.
Talk to Sophia Like a Friend: Although it will understand both, use more conversational language like you would with a friend. Instead of saying, "kitchen lights on, set oven timer to 30 minutes" simply say, "can you turn the kitchen lights on for me and also start the oven timer for 30 mins?"
Context Only mode: If Sophia is not understanding your messages, go to the Settings menu of the web interface and switch to Context Only mode. This is useful if your device configuration is incomplete or ambiguous. It will stop devices from being added to the vocabulary, and instead utilize contextual markers only.
Tags: If Sophia is not picking up on the specific device you intended, visit the Entities menu of the Sophia web interface, and you will see a Tags column beside every entity. Specify a basic comma-delimited list (e.g. if it's a dog door enter "pet") and help give Sophia a basic understanding of your home.
State Persistence: Sophia will remember the previous state. For example, you can ask what lights are on in the kitchen and it will respond accordingly. If in the next message you say, "turn them off for me please", it will know which lights you are talking about.
Clarification: When Sophia is uncertain, it will ask for your clarification as to which device you meant. This is currently the only time Sophia will keep the conversation going and wait for your response without requiring the wake word.
Help Improve Sophia: If Sophia gets something wrong, simply tell it the last message was wrong by saying something like, "nope, that's wrong". The previous message will be logged, and once in a while upload the misinterpreted messages via the logs menu of the Sophia web interface.
Problems?: If you have any issues with Sophia, check the Troubleshooting guide. If that fails, do not hesitate to contact support at [email protected] or post on the Community Forums.
