Sophia NLU: Installation & Setup

Thank you for choosing Sophia NLU. Follow these steps to get your deterministic, private NLU engine running within your Home Assistant environment.

This page assumes you are running HA OS. If you are running a manual Docker or Core installation, please visit the Manual Installation page for instructions.

Install the App

  1. Navigate to Settings > Apps in Home Assistant and click the App Store button in the bottom right corner.
  2. Open the overflow menu (three vertical dots) in the top right and click Repositories. In the popup that appears, click Add and enter your personalized download URL. Your personalized repository URL is: ~repo_url~

If you do not have it, log in to the Account Portal to obtain it. 3. The Sophia NLU add-on should now appear in the list of available add-ons. Click it to open the add-on page, then click Install. 4. Once the installation is complete, either open the Sophia NLU card and click the "UI" button, or visit http://YOUR_HA_IP:10520/ and follow the steps to activate your license.

Install the Integration

  1. You must have HACS (Home Assistant Community Store) installed. If it is not yet installed, please visit the Install HACS page for instructions.
  2. In the Home Assistant sidebar, click on HACS.
  3. Click the overflow menu (three dots), select Custom Repositories, and enter:

  1. Search the HACS integrations for “Sophia NLU.” When it appears, open it and click the Download button.
  2. Restart Home Assistant to load the new integration.
  3. Navigate to Settings > Devices & Services and click the Add Integration button.
  4. Search for “Sophia NLU” and select it. Follow the prompts and leave the configuration values at their defaults.

Enable Voice Assistant

  1. Navigate to Settings > Voice assistants and click Add Assistant to create a new pipeline.
  2. Enter any name you wish select Sophia NLU as the Conversation agent, and click Create.
  3. Ensure the new Sophia pipeline is the default, and that’s it! Enjoy more fluid voice assistance within your Home Assistant ecosystem.
